About the University
The University of Notre Dame is one of the Australia's most innovative
and exciting universities. It is located in Fremantle, 25 minutes
from the center of Perth, Western Australia. The University has
the unique quality of being a 'Town University'. The University
is Australia's first Catholic University. Its founding inspiration,
philosophy of education and path of development, is substantially
based upon the famous University of Notre Dame in the United States
with whom the University has a very close working relationship.
Campuses
The University has two campuses, one in Fremantle and the other
in Broome.
Only 25 minutes from the centre of Perth and connected by an efficient,
suburban railway service, Fremantle offers students an ideal and
a magnificent location for study and recreation.
Located 2600 Km North of Perth and approximately 1800 Km South
East of Java, Broome sits in the rugged, beautiful Kimberley region
of North-West Western Australia. Broome provides an ideal climate,
breathtaking natural beauty, historic sights and plenty of outdoor
adventure for students.
Study
Options
The University offers courses at both Undergraduate
and Postgraduate levels. The degree programs offered by the university
are recognized nationally and internationally. The courses' practical
and vocational components, as well as consultation with professional
bodies, ensure that a degree from Notre Dame is the best possible
preparation for a student's chosen career. The university also offers
Double degree programs where the students can take two areas of
study by an additional one-year of study. The undergraduate degrees
usually take 3 years of study.
The courses offered at postgraduate level are Graduate Certificate/Diploma
and Masters degree. The Graduate Diploma usually requires one year
of study. The Masters degrees are completed in one to two years.
The Doctoral degrees are also offered at the university which usually
take 3 years.
Study
Abroad
Opportunities exist for students from Notre Dame to travel to the
United States for study abroad at a number of the premier universities
in the US. Besides US, the students are also offered study abroad
programs at other universities across the globe.
Fields
of Study
The University has five colleges that offer courses in different
fields of study. These are:
The College of Business offers a range of undergraduate and
postgraduate degrees in the disciplines of Accounting, Communication,
Banking & Finance, Human Resource Management, Environment,
Information & Communication Technology, Management, Marketing,
Public Relations and Tourism.
It covers a complete spectrum from the preparation of beginning
teachers to the continuing professional development and further
education of experienced educators and school leaders.
There are three disciplines offered at the college of health.
These are Nursing, Behavioral Science & Counseling, Health
& Physical Education. These courses encourage students to
value the privilege of being in service to others while at the
same time nurturing themselves.
A wide range of career options is available for students who
study programs at the College of Law. There are two schools:
School of Law and School of Arts & Letters.
The college offers various courses in Theology, Philosophy
and Ethics. These provide a liberal arts base prior to students'
commencing their specialized studies.
