About Deakin University

Deakin University is Australia's first university to be named University

- for the second time. Deakin was first named University of the
Year by the Good Universities Guide in 1995 for its 'use of technology
in teaching and learning', and in the same year the Federal Government's
Quality Assurance Committee for Teaching and Learning ranked Deakin

In 1999/2000 Deakin has been named joint winner of the University

Main Campuses
Deakin University is a large and diverse institution with six campuses
- Melbourne (formerly Burwood), Rusden and Toorak in Melbourne's
eastern suburbs, two campuses in Geelong and one in Warrnambool
in regional Victoria. Each campus has a distinctive character and
a strong presence in its local community. There is a personal and

- Melbourne

This campus offers courses in computing, environmental

provides courses in the areas of business and computing to international

- Geelong
At this campus, undergraduate degrees are available

- Geelong Waterfront
It is Deakin's newest campus located
on the foreshore of Corio Bay, in the central business district
of Geelong. Originally built in 1893, the buildings have been extensively
renovated to create a modern and impressive sixth campus. The School
of Architecture and Building, and School of Nursing are located
at this campus.
- Warrnambool
This campus has strengths in marine and freshwater
science, fisheries management and aquaculture, visual arts, communication
studies (including eco-communication), business, commerce and nursing.

There are five faculties of study available at Deakin University,

Kangan Batman Institute of TAFE has five campuses that host more

- Richmond
It is located 3 Km from the CBD and houses automotive and recreation
programs. On this campus, numerous automotive workshops are located
for students to gain practical experience.
- Moreland
It is located approximately 8 Km from the CBD and well serviced
by public transport. Nursing and some community development programs
are conducted at this campus.
- Broadmeadows
It is the main campus of the Institute, located approximately 20
Km from the CBD. A wide range of courses are offered at this campus
including Business, e-Commerce, Information Technology, Fashion
Design, Electronics and Tourism. It is also the location of purpose
built training centres for aerospace engineering, Polymer Engineering
and Hospitality.
- Essendon
This campus is located approximately 10 Km from the CBD. It offers
Public Relations and Advertising courses.
- Coburg
This campus is located approximately 12 Km from the CBD. It offers
a wide range of Automotive courses. Facilities include purpose built
