About the University
The University of Northumbria is an expanding multicultural learning
community, with excellent links with Further and Higher Education,
industry and commerce throughout the UK, Europe and beyond. The
University is renowned for the excellence of its teaching, as well
as for preparing students for the world of work and providing research
opportunities for professional reflective practice.
The University has a reputation for delivering first class teaching
on excellent courses, which is backed up by the National Higher
Education Quality Assurance Agency. It is an international university,
with students from countries all over the world.
In recent years, three national newspapers have voted Northumbria
as "Best New University" including The Sunday
Times between the years of 1998-2000 and the Daily Telegraph
for two consecutive years.
Campuses
The University of Northumbria has four campuses. Each has its own
facilities and accommodation, but students have access to the facilities
at all sites no matter which campus they are based on. All campuses
have direct computer links to other University sites.
- Newcastle City Campus
This is the largest campus and home for all the courses in the
Faculty of Arts, the Faculty of Engineering, Science and Technology
and the Faculty of Social Sciences, as well as for most of the courses
delivered by Newcastle Business School. The campus is situated in
the heart of the city. Located on the City Campus are the University's
main library, Students' Union, computer facilities, language laboratories,
art gallery and the sports centre which, with its fully-equipped
Sola Fitness Suite, now offers some of the finest facilities of
its kind among the country's universities.
- Coach Lane Campus
Coach Lane Campus is set in leafy suburbs, just 3 miles from Newcastle
city centre. It accommodates all students in the Faculty of Health,
Social Work and Education, including all the student nurses in the
region. The University's Development Office, the Special Needs Research
Unit and Special Educational Needs Resources Centre are also located
on this site. The campus has state-of-the-art information and communications
facilities, which are appropriate to the needs of Higher Education
in the twenty-first century.
- University Campus, Carlisle
As part of its commitment to widening Higher Education opportunities,
the University opened a campus in this historic city, and in September
1992, the University Campus, Carlisle welcomed its first intake
of students to business and management courses. The award-winning
Campus is located in the historic heart of the city, occupying sites
in Castle Street and Paternoster Row. It houses the library, language
and computer laboratories, lecture theatre and seminar rooms.
- Longhirst Campus
The Campus is based at Longhirst Hall, a magnificent listed building
near Morpeth in Northumberland. The purpose-built and self-contained
University Campus has lecture and seminar rooms, a library, satellite
communications, and the latest in information technology. Longhirst
campus is set in 45 acres of beautiful parkland which provides students
with a variety of sporting and leisure facilities. Longhirst Campus
is 3 miles from the town of Morpeth in Northumberland, which is
15miles north of Newcastle.

The University of Northumbria offers a wide range of courses at
undergraduate, postgraduate and research levels. The University
also offers various routes to degree courses in the form of Higher
National Diplomas, Certificates and Diplomas. The University has

The Faculty of Arts has School of Arts, School of Design, School
of Humanities, School of Information Studies, School of Modern Languages

The Faculty of Engineering, Science and Technology offers courses
in Facilities Management, Project Management, Biomedical Sciences,
Computing, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Microelectronics,
Communication Engineering, e-Business Technology, Built Environment,
Applied and Molecular Sciences and many more
- Faculty of Health, Social Work and Education
The Faculty of Health, Social Work and Education offers courses
in Education, Nursing, Health Sciences, Child Care, Social Welfare,
Social Work, Clinical Psychology, Mental Health Studies and many
others.
- Faculty of Social Sciences
The Faculty of Social Sciences offers courses in Economics, Strategy
Management, Law, Applied Sociology, Criminology, Sport Management,
Special Needs and Social Welfare, Occupational Psychology, Geography
and Environmental Management etc.
- Newcastle Business School
Newcastle Business School offers various courses in Accounting,
Finance, Information Systems, Business Administration, Marketing,
International Business Administration, Corporate Environment, Risk

- University Campus, Carlisle
The University Campus, Carlisle offers courses in Management Studies,
Human Resource Management, Health Sciences, Business and many more
